Trump Creates Super Intelligence Force to Lead AI Policy Coordination
President Donald Trump has announced the creation of a new federal task force called the Super Intelligence Force, tasked with coordinating artificial intelligence (AI) policy in the U.S. The initiative, revealed on Trump's social media platform Truth Social, aims to maintain American leadership in AI while protecting public interests. Leading the group is Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, joined by three other officials: Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Undersecretary of War for Research and Engineering Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.
The task force will engage with consumers, religious groups, AI companies, and critical infrastructure providers. Clayton indicated the group has 120 days to evaluate the risks and opportunities presented by AI and determine the federal government's role. The announcement follows a White House executive order that replaces federal AI terminology with Super Intelligence in official communications. The order also mandates the White House science adviser to propose legislative language for a federal definition within 60 days.
Clayton's background includes leadership of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he oversaw the lawsuit against Ripple Labs. The case, filed on December 22, 2020, alleged that Ripple raised over $1.3 billion through unregistered investment contracts involving XRP. Both sides dismissed their appeals on August 7, 2025, resulting in a $125,035,150 civil penalty and a court order against future securities registration violations.
The Trump administration's federal AI policy framework, released on March 20, addressed various issues, including child safeguards, data center electricity costs, intellectual property for creators, and worker retraining. The proposals sought national legislation and a uniform approach across the U.S. The administration's broader technology agenda frames cryptocurrency and digital assets as areas where U.S. leadership depends on encouraging innovation and maintaining development and investment within the country.
