Trump Hosts Third TRUMP Memecoin Event Amid Controversy Over Billions in Losses
US President Donald Trump will host his third 'exclusive' memecoin event at his DC golf club on November 22, according to the GetTrumpMemes website. The top 185 TRUMP memecoin holders, scored between September 30 and November 12, will be invited based on their token holdings. This is despite controversy surrounding Trump's crypto ventures, with a report in August estimating that investors had lost a combined $4.7 billion since 2022, with $3.2 billion attributed to the TRUMP memecoin.
The event has sparked ethics concerns, with critics accusing Trump of selling access to the presidency through 'pay-to-play' schemes. In May, Trump hosted a dinner for top token holders at his golf club, where Justin Sun, the founder of the Tron network and the top holder at the time, held about $19 million worth of TRUMP memecoin.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) later settled a lawsuit against Sun for $10 million. Trump's 2025 disclosures reported $1.4 billion in crypto-related earnings, including his TRUMP memecoin.
