Trump-Linked Accounts Swing Back into Strategy (MSTR) with 80% Gain
The Trump-linked investment accounts made a surprising move in July by buying back shares of Strategy (Nasdaq: MSTR), the world's largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin. The accounts had previously sold MSTR shares worth between $1,001 and $15,000 on July 8, but then turned around and bought the same dollar range on July 24.
The larger purchase was made three days later, with a transaction valued at $50,001 to $100,000. Strategy closed at $98.65 that day, which translates to a roughly 70% increase in value.
By September 22, MSTR shares had climbed to $167.33, resulting in an impressive 80% gain less than two months later. The company's stock has since lost some steam, but it remains a significant player in the Bitcoin market.
The Trump accounts' decision to buy back MSTR shares coincided with the company's temporary halt on adding new Bitcoin to its treasury. However, Strategy resumed its accumulation of BTC by September 21, holding 846,000 BTC acquired for an aggregate cost of about $63.8 billion.
