Trump Taps Former SEC Chair Jay Clayton for AI Super Force
Former Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Jay Clayton has been appointed by President Donald Trump to lead the newly formed 'Super Intelligence Force,' which will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) risks and opportunities. Clayton, who currently serves as Director of National Intelligence, will head the initiative with a 120-day deadline to assess AI-related issues.
The new force will include outside advisers, such as former White House AI and crypto adviser David Sacks and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. This appointment marks an expansion of Clayton's current role at the Director of National Intelligence position.
Clayton's tenure as SEC Chair is notable for his involvement in the agency's lawsuit against Ripple, which alleged unregistered securities offerings through XRP sales. His selection to lead the AI force connects his previous financial markets regulator experience with a federal initiative focused on AI risks and opportunities.
