Trump Taps Former SEC Chair to Lead AI Push Amid Crypto Controversy
President Donald Trump has announced the creation of a 'Super Intelligence Force' to coordinate the federal government's approach to artificial intelligence. The group will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, who has been widely reported as the administration's new AI czar.
Clayton is no stranger to controversy in the crypto space. As SEC chair during Trump's first term, he brought 57 cases against crypto firms and sued Ripple over XRP in one of his final acts. After leaving the SEC, Clayton joined One River Asset Management as a crypto adviser and sat on the advisory board of Fireblocks.
The 'Super Intelligence Force' will coordinate federal engagement with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and AI companies. The group's mandate and timeline are unclear, but it is intended to keep the US ahead in AI development.
