Trump's Government Deals Fall Flat for Most Investors, Except Intel
The Trump administration has invested in 32 companies across various sectors, including semiconductors, rare earth minerals, and oil drilling. However, a recent analysis by Yahoo Finance found that most of these investments have delivered mixed results. Out of the 17 public companies that accepted government involvement, 14 ended last week with share prices below their post-announcement levels.
Stocks tend to spike around announcement time, only to give back those gains within weeks. For example, USA Rare Earth's stock jumped over 80% in five trading days after its deal with the government was announced in January. However, it now trades at $15.71, far below its post-deal high of over $30.
Intel is a standout success story, with its stock closing Monday at $97.19, more than four times its price in August 2025 before the deal was announced. The government's stake has grown from an estimated $8.9 billion to over $50 billion. However, even Intel's strong performance may be an exception rather than a rule.
Trump's personal portfolio tells a different story. His net worth is estimated at $7 billion, with holdings spread across Big Tech stocks and crypto. He holds roughly 15.75 billion World Liberty Financial tokens worth around $882 million, as well as large positions in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other assets.
