Trump's Iran Warning Sends Markets Soaring, Cryptos Mixed
President Trump's weekend warning to Iran sent shockwaves through global markets on Monday, causing some cryptocurrencies to slide while others gained momentum. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 1.32% to a record close of $53,178.41, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also seeing significant gains.
The cryptocurrency market saw mixed results, with Bitcoin reaching an intraday high of $64,020 before pulling back to around $62,000. Ethereum remained stuck in the $1,800 region, while Dogecoin gained ground.
According to Coinglass data, over $240 million was liquidated from the cryptocurrency market in the last 24 hours, with short position traders losing more than long position traders.
An increase in open interest alongside an increase in price indicates long buildup, meaning new buyers are entering the market. Bitcoin's open interest rose 1.93% over the last 24 hours, a sign that investors are accumulating the asset.
