Trump's Russia Tariffs Spark October Deadline for Bitcoin Traders
US President Donald Trump's recent signing of H.R. 5334 has set off a 30-day clock for his administration to determine tariffs on Russian goods imported into the US, including oil and gas.
The law requires the president to raise duties by up to 500% on these imports, with the actual rate left to the administration's discretion.
A separate provision targets countries that continue purchasing Russian crude or natural gas after the 30-day window, imposing tariffs of up to 100% on their goods exported to the US if they rank among the top five buyers.
This creates uncertainty around whether the law will become a significant macro shock or remain a limited sanctions measure.
