Ukraine Shuts Down Network of Fake Crypto Investment Platforms
A network of fake investment platforms used to steal cryptocurrencies from users has been dismantled by Ukrainian authorities.
The National Police of Ukraine reported that law enforcement shut down the operation, which affected more than 20 countries and involved over 46 Ukrainian citizens.
The scammers created websites mimicking legitimate investment platforms, convincing victims to register, connect a crypto wallet, and invest funds. They then used a 'crypto drainer' to transfer assets to addresses under their control when users tried to withdraw money.
A total of 62 victims from various countries were identified during the investigation, which led to searches in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. Over 100 pieces of computer equipment, phones, SIM cards, a GSM gateway, cash, and 15 vehicles were seized as evidence.
