UNI Price Surges 28% as SEC Creates Permissioned AMM Framework
Uniswap's (UNI) price surged by 28% after the US Securities and Exchange Commission created a temporary framework for permissioned automated market makers (AMMs), which benefits Uniswap's v4 infrastructure.
The SEC did not directly approve or endorse Uniswap, but its new regulatory pathway aligns with what Uniswap has already built through its Permissioned Pools launched in July 2026 with firms including Superstate, Securitize, and Dowgo.
These pools restrict access to approved wallets using on-chain compliance rules, making them a direct fit for the SEC's new framework. The framework also grants conditional regulatory relief to eligible liquidity providers supporting those compliant pools, opening potential new revenue streams for participants in Uniswap's ecosystem.
UNI cleared the $6.50 resistance zone and briefly touched $8.86 before settling near $8.53. Open interest climbed to 11.21 million UNI, pointing to stronger participation in the derivatives market.
Crypto analyst Patel noted that UNI is up 285% from his accumulation zone, with a potential target of $50 if it breaks and holds above $9.50.
