Uniswap Launches Earn, Allowing Users to Earn Yield on Idle Crypto
Uniswap has launched Earn, a lending product that lets users generate yield on their idle cryptocurrency without giving up self-custody of their funds. The platform routes user deposits into lending vaults curated by Gauntlet, a risk management firm with institutional-grade optimization capabilities.
Morpho serves as the lending protocol backbone for Uniswap's Earn, which supports USDC, USDT, and ETH deposits. Users can earn lending yield without lockup periods, similar to Coinbase's USDC Earn product that hit yields as high as 10.8% at one point.
This launch is part of a broader strategic arc that started with the introduction of Unichain in February 2025. Governance proposals have actively pushed Uniswap toward integrating lending and borrowing functionality, with Morpho receiving specific governance support for this kind of integration.
Investors should be aware of the risk side: users depositing into Earn are taking on smart contract risk across multiple protocol layers. Additionally, the dynamic created by Morpho powering yield products for Coinbase, Robinhood, and Uniswap may lead to competition for lending demand, which could compress yields if borrowing demand doesn't scale proportionally.
UNI traded at approximately $4.32 on launch day, ticking up about 1% with a market capitalization of $2.7B. Gauntlet has accumulated nearly $1B in assets under management in roughly a year and a half through its vaults.
