Uniswap Price Surges 48.8% as Fee Logic Rebuild and SEC Exemption Coincide
The price of Uniswap (UNI) has surged to $9.05 on September 18, 2026, marking a gain of 18.67 percent within 24 hours and 48.8 percent over a week.
This jump is attributed to two separate events that coincided on the same day: the rebuild of Uniswap's fee logic and an exemption granted by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for tokenized stocks to trade through automated market makers.
The SEC exemption, issued on September 17, allows trading venues for tokenized securities to trade tokenized US stocks through automated market makers and liquidity pools without being considered an exchange under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. However, this exemption has no immediate impact on investors in Germany and does not change their tax position.
The fee switch at Uniswap, which allows holders of UNI tokens to decide by vote how much of the trading fees flow to the protocol itself instead of remaining with liquidity providers, is also contributing to the price surge. According to the UNIfication proposal, for v2 pools, the fee for liquidity providers will fall from 0.30 to 0.25 percent, with the remaining 0.05 percent going to the protocol as a protocol fee.
