Uniswap Price Surges on SEC's Permissioned AMM Trading Framework

The price of Uniswap (UNI) has surged from around $6.63 to $8.49 after traders reacted to a major shift in the regulatory landscape. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has opened the door for certain tokenized stocks to trade through permissioned Automated Market Makers (AMMs). This development puts Uniswap v4 back in focus, which many believe could strongly impact the price.

The SEC's latest move introduces a temporary framework for certain tokenised U.S. stocks, allowing approved venues to trade tokenised U.S. stocks through permissioned AMMs and liquidity pools. It also grants conditional regulatory relief to eligible liquidity providers supporting those pools. However, the SEC has not approved Uniswap or endorsed Uniswap v4 directly.

Uniswap has launched Permissioned Pools in July to support compliant trading of tokenised assets with firms including Superstate, Secuitize, and Dowgo. These pools can restrict access to approved wallets through on-chain compliance rules, creating new trading and liquidity opportunities across Uniswap v4.
