US Dismantles Hamas Cryptocurrency Fundraising Network Seizing Over Half a Million Dollars

The US Department of Justice has dismantled a Hamas structure dedicated to fundraising and recruitment through the internet. The operation resulted in the seizure of more than $560,000 in cryptocurrencies intended for the Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.

The FBI identified a network of encrypted communication platforms where donors were directed to payment pages using different cryptocurrency addresses. These addresses rotated regularly to hinder tracking of operations, according to court documents.

U.S. investigators argue that this organization aimed to make contributions anonymous or hard-to-trace by using cryptocurrencies. The operation combined the seizure of assets with the disruption of digital channels used for contributions.
