US Inflation Expectations Steady as Energy Costs Rise Ahead of Fed Meeting

Share

The US Federal Reserve's inflation expectations have held steady at 3.6% for one year, according to the New York Fed's Survey of Consumer Expectations in August.

However, energy costs are rising as gasoline price growth over the next year increased by 1.7 percentage points to 4.6%, bringing energy pressures back into focus.

The upcoming US inflation releases on September 10 and 11 will provide fresh evidence ahead of next week's Federal Reserve meeting, which may impact interest rate expectations and have a bearing on technology stocks and crypto assets.
