A Senate Permanent Subcommittee investigation has found that USDT, the stablecoin issued by Tether, is linked to 84% of 846 sanctioned or targeted Iranian-linked crypto wallets.

The report concludes that stablecoin flows facilitated cross-border transfers that may have evaded U.S. sanctions.

Tether contests the claims, saying it froze about $550 million of Iran-linked USDT in 2026 and cooperates with regulators.
