Virtu, M1X Global, Tradeweb Complete On-Chain Repo with Digital Bonds

Share

Virtu Financial, M1X Global, and Tradeweb have executed an on-chain repurchase agreement (repo) transaction using digital bonds issued by the Republic of the Marshall Islands.

The transaction was carried out on the Canton Network, a blockchain platform developed by Digital Asset for institutional asset transactions. The involved parties utilized the USDM1 stablecoin, which is pegged to the U.S. dollar and issued in collaboration with the Marshall Islands government.

This move represents a significant step towards integrating blockchain technology into traditional financial markets. By executing this on-chain repo, the participants have demonstrated the potential for blockchain to streamline settlement processes and enhance transparency in fixed-income markets.
