Virtune Swaps Gram for Litecoin in Altcoin ETP Rebalancing
Virtune, a Swedish issuer of crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs), completed its monthly rebalancing of the Virtune Crypto Altcoin Index ETP on October 5, 2026. The most notable change was the removal of Gram (GRAM) and the inclusion of Litecoin (LTC), bringing all ten positions in the index back to an equal weighting of 10.00 percent each. The ETP trades on Deutsche Börse Xetra under the ticker VRTA and is available in euros.
The rebalancing is based on the index's rules rather than market predictions. Before the change, Gram held the smallest share at 8.68 percent, while Litecoin, one of the oldest cryptocurrencies, was added with a market price of around $70 on October 5, 2026. The index's equal weighting mechanism ensures that each of the top ten altcoins, excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum, receives the same share, regardless of their market size.
Virtune's ETP is classified as an exchange-traded note (ETN), meaning it is a debt security issued by the company rather than a fund. This distinction is important as it carries both the price risk of the underlying assets and the issuer's credit risk. Investors should review the base prospectus and product documents for detailed risk assessments.
Trading hours for the ETP on Xetra do not align with the 24/7 crypto market, which can pose challenges. For example, if a significant price movement occurs over the weekend, investors cannot trade the ETP until the market reopens on Monday. This timing discrepancy is a critical factor for investors to consider when accessing crypto securities through traditional exchanges.
