Wang Moves $200M Back to Binance After DeFi Stint
Chun Wang, co-founder of F2Pool, has made a series of large transactions in July, sending over $200 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) back to Binance. In May and June, he had accumulated around 91,945 ETH, valued at approximately $160 million, and 973 WBTC, worth close to $61 million, by pulling them off centralized exchanges and parking them in DeFi protocols like Spark.
The contrast between his earlier behavior, seen as bullish, and the recent reversal is striking. Wang's history makes this movement significant, as F2Pool was once the dominant force in Bitcoin mining. His personal holdings are substantial enough that his actions can shift local price dynamics, particularly for ETH given the volumes involved.
The on-chain data shows that Wang has sent at least 16,800 ETH and 60 WBTC to Binance on July 2, followed by another 9,800 ETH on July 3. On July 27, he transferred 3,345 ETH valued at $6.5 million. The exact reason behind this reversal is unclear, with possible explanations including preparation for selling, collateral for a trade, or repositioning ahead of something else entirely.
