Wintermute Says Early Stage Bull Market Not Too Late for Crypto Investors
Wintermute, a prominent blockchain outlet, has asserted that the current bull market for bitcoin and altcoins is still in its early stages, suggesting that it is not too late for investors to enter the market. The analysis highlights that while the altcoin rally over the past three months has matured, major altcoins like Near and Ripple's XRP may experience short-term corrections. Wintermute cautioned against buying low-quality altcoins at this stage, noting that recent stagnation in Near and XRP represents a healthy market correction.
Bitcoin saw a 2.4 percent weekly increase, reaching $86,100. The report emphasized the significance of breaking above the recent $76,000 to $82,500 range and confirming $82,500 as support. The next upside target zone for bitcoin is identified as $90,000 to $95,000, an area where profit-taking supply previously pushed prices back between $94,000 and $96,000 earlier this year. The analysis also noted that bitcoin's future movements may increasingly depend on traditional financial markets rather than crypto-specific factors.
Altcoins showed mixed performance, with the altcoin index falling 1.1 percent on the week, marking its first weekly decline since early August. The report indicated that funds have shifted towards low-market-cap, low-quality tokens as stronger projects moved sideways. Wintermute is tracking changes in the top 250 cryptocurrencies to analyze the market's longer-term direction, noting that new technology-related names are replacing established large-cap names, potentially leading to the emergence of new blue-chip altcoins.
The U.S. midterm elections on November 3 were cited as a key variable. Wintermute suggested that if uncertainty in the U.S. Treasury market eases around the election and long-term yields stabilize, conditions for further gains could emerge. The report stressed the importance of a cautious approach, warning against chasing low-quality altcoins.
