X Adds Trade Button to Cashtags, Routing Users to Partner Platforms

X has introduced a new feature to its timeline that allows users to trade assets directly from financial conversations. Tapping on a supported cashtag, such as $BTC or $TSLA, now surfaces the asset's live price chart and related posts alongside a 'Trade' option. This hands the user off to a partner platform, where they can log in or open an account and complete the order.

The feature is part of X's Cashtag Partner Program, which was announced on September 15 with five launch partners: Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase. Users who tap 'Trade' are routed to one of these partner platforms, where they can execute the trade.

X does not place, settle, or custody any trades, instead capturing the trading intent that flows through its finance and crypto conversations. This approach allows X to avoid regulatory issues associated with being a broker-dealer.
