X Connects Cashtags Directly to Brokerages and Crypto Exchanges
Elon Musk's X has added a new feature to its platform, allowing users in the US to trade securities and cryptocurrencies directly from within their conversations. The company introduced the US Cashtag Partner Program on September 15, 2026, which attaches a 'Trade' option to supported tickers for stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies.
The cashtags have been upgraded from simple dollar-sign tickers like $AAPL or $BTC to interactive pages that surface live charts and related posts. The new feature links these asset pages to five launch partners: Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase.
X is positioning itself as the discovery and conversation layer, while licensed firms handle execution and compliance. According to Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai, the intent behind this new feature is to 'close the distance between a ticker in the timeline and the market itself.'
