X Sues Bitcoin Account Operators Over Alleged $278K Payout Fraud
X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, has filed a lawsuit against the operators of a network of Bitcoin-focused accounts. The company alleges that the defendants manipulated engagement on its platform to fraudulently obtain at least £207,384 (approximately $278,000) from X's creator revenue-sharing program.
The lawsuit targets Vivek Kumar Sen and Zamyang Sherpa, among others, for allegedly coordinating multiple accounts to boost engagement through reposting and liking each other's content. The company claims that this created a 'false appearance of genuine, human communication and interaction.'
X suspended the accounts on August 18 due to alleged creator revenue-sharing fraud and platform manipulation. The lawsuit identifies six accounts enrolled in X's revenue-sharing program, which joined between August 2023 and February 2026.
X expects to incur at least £75,000 (approximately $100,000) in investigation and remediation costs, bringing its claimed and projected losses to at least £282,384 before interest and legal costs.
