XRP ETF Inflows Can't Shield Cryptocurrency from Macro Headwinds
XRP, the fifth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, is seeing significant inflows into its exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The Bitwise XRP ETF, with $520 million in assets under management, leads the pack.
In the last three months, XRP ETFs have hauled in $127 million in fresh assets, accounting for more than a quarter of their overall AUM. This eight-week run of asset growth is a positive sign for the cryptocurrency and its corresponding ETFs.
Investors who buy into these funds are essentially reducing the available supply of XRP, which can lead to price increases. Additionally, demand for XRP ETFs helps stabilize the market.
However, XRP has fallen 5% in the last week due to inflation data and the rising probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike next week. If the Fed does proceed with rate hikes or signals a hawkish stance, it could weigh on XRP's performance in the near term.
The passage of the Clarity Act by September 15 is also a concern for XRP investors. If the legislation fails to pass, it could lead to downside for the cryptocurrency due to its vulnerability to negative headlines about the bill.
