$XRP Ledger Governance Upgrade Aims to Boost Community Participation
The XAO DAO, responsible for governing the $XRP Ledger, is set to implement significant changes aimed at increasing community participation and engagement. According to Fabio Marzella, co-founder of XAO DAO, these upgrades will allow members to delegate voting power, adjust quorum rules, and access community mini-grants.
The delegation feature will enable members to hand over their voting power to others when they lack the time or expertise to vote on individual proposals. The DAO is also reviewing its quorum requirements, including how inactive wallets count toward proposal thresholds, to prevent inactive participation from blocking decisions while keeping governance tied to the active community.
The introduction of community mini-grants will allow members to submit smaller initiatives and seek funding for projects that contribute to the XRPL ecosystem. Marzella emphasized that these changes are not made for their own sake but to create a DAO where the community has 'the ability to act' rather than simply having a vote.
The timing of these upgrades is significant, given the recent shutdown of Gen3's retail platforms and concerns about developer support within the XRPL community. Marzella pointed out that funding developers alone does not solve the problem of building lasting businesses, highlighting the need for a more sustainable approach to governance.
