XRP Ledger Sees Surge in On-Chain Activity as Institutional Infrastructure Deals Pile Up
The XRP Ledger has seen a significant surge in on-chain activity, with active addresses increasing by 655% between August 10 and 24. This growth coincided with a price rally, but the underlying metrics suggest that existing larger holders are driving this activity rather than new retail adoption.
Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin is also expanding its utility beyond simple payments, with a credit fund now available on the XRP Ledger. The token has over 84,000 holders and a market capitalization of approximately $2.02 billion, with roughly $963 million circulating on the XRP Ledger.
Regulatory momentum is building, with Luxembourg's CSSF granting Ripple provisional CASP and e-money licenses under Europe's MiCA framework. This opens access to all 30 countries of the European Economic Area, positioning RLUSD well for potential displaced demand if USDT faces exclusion from regulated EU trading venues.
The JPMorgan settlement on the XRP Ledger is a significant validation of its institutional credentials, demonstrating that it can handle cross-border redemption processes outside traditional banking hours. Ripple's brokerage division has also placed a private bond offering worth $275 million, with proceeds earmarked for expanding the business.
