XRP Ledger Upgrade Brings Atomic Transactions Closer
The XRP Ledger is on the cusp of a significant upgrade with its BatchV1_1 amendment, which would allow up to eight transactions to be bundled together and processed as a single batch. This feature, known as atomic execution, enables developers to coordinate multiple transactions without the risk of partial outcomes.
The upgrade has gained 27 out of 35 trusted-validator votes, or roughly 77% support, leaving it just one vote shy of the required threshold for activation. To become active, BatchV1_1 must maintain sufficient validator backing throughout a two-week window and achieve sustained consensus.
Built upon XLS-56, a proposal designed to let users package multiple operations together, BatchV1_1 aims to unlock more sophisticated XRP Ledger applications without requiring developers to coordinate independent transactions. Potential uses include trustless token and NFT swaps between multiple accounts.
