XRP Price Faces Crucial Test as CPI Report and XRPL Amendment Activation Loom
XRP's price is set to face two significant events on September 11th that could impact its market attention. The first event is the release of the August U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) report at 8:30 a.m. ET, while the second event is the activation of an XRP Ledger (XRPL) amendment at 11:15 a.m. ET.
The XRPL amendment scheduled for Friday is part of the XRPL 3.3.0 upgrade and aims to address several issues related to single-asset vaults, lending, automated market makers, permissioned exchanges, checks, and pseudo accounts. The amendment has already passed the required voting process with more than 80% support from trusted validators, maintaining this level for two weeks.
However, not all features included in the XRPL 3.3.0 release are close to activation. Confidential Transfers, which would allow multi-purpose token transactions without publicly showing transaction amounts, currently have less than 23% validator support and are therefore far from activation. Dynamic MPT is also at a similar level.
The August CPI report could have a more significant market impact, as its release precedes the XRPL amendment activation. The report's results may influence expectations for a potential interest-rate decision by the Federal Reserve on September 16, with a lower-than-expected reading potentially increasing expectations for a larger rate cut and a higher reading making that decision more challenging.
