XRP Sets Benchmark as Zcash Seeks Valuation Ceiling
Grayscale, a cryptocurrency asset manager, has observed that XRP's market value approaches 6% of Bitcoin's market capitalization. This level is seen as a benchmark for Zcash (ZEC), which currently stands at around 1.5%. Zach Pandl, head of research at Grayscale, notes that the recent increase in ZEC's valuation is substantial but consistent with its sector's history.
Pandl argues that ZEC has not reached a valuation ceiling and highlights the token's potential for further growth. He attributes this to the demand for confidential transactions, which form the central basis of his outlook for gains in the digital currency category.
Grayscale's analysis also mentions Litecoin (LTC) as an example of a decentralized payment network that enables direct transfers between users without relying on a central processor. The firm's Currencies Crypto Sector groups blockchains focused on the digital currency use case, which includes monetary functions such as transferring value and storing value.
The researcher notes that ZEC combines Bitcoin-like monetary characteristics with privacy features, making it distinct from other cryptocurrencies. He believes that if Zcash continues to offer effective privacy features among competing cryptocurrencies, it can capture additional market share.
