XRP Takes the Lead as Dogecoin Struggles with Excessive Supply
Dogecoin and XRP are two popular cryptocurrencies that have been making waves in the market. However, a closer look at their performance reveals some stark differences.
Over the past year, XRP has outperformed Dogecoin, with a $95 billion market cap dwarfing Dogecoin's $15 billion. In fact, XRP ETFs hold over $1.77 billion in assets, compared to just $15.5 million for Dogecoin ETFs.
Dogecoin's excessive yearly coin supply is another major concern. With 156 billion coins in circulation and no maximum supply limit, the cryptocurrency needs constant buying pressure to maintain its price. This has led to a decline of about 59% over the past year, with the current price hovering around $0.093.
XRP, on the other hand, has shown stronger performance over both short-term and long-term periods. Over the last 90 days, XRP's price has climbed by 46%, while Dogecoin has increased by just 34%. Additionally, XRP is closer to its historical highs, with a current price of around $1.50 compared to Dogecoin's current price of $0.093.
While Dogecoin may have had a brief resurgence in recent weeks, its long-term prospects remain uncertain. Meanwhile, XRP appears to be the stronger contender in the cryptocurrency market, with a more robust supply limit and stronger institutional backing.
