Zano Network Reboots After Security Flaw Allows Unauthorized Tokens
A security flaw in Zano's Gateway Addresses feature has forced the network to restart its blockchain nearly a month early, wiping out around a month of transactions and leaving users affected by the issue waiting for reimbursement.
The Zano core team says it remains stable despite the vulnerability, which allowed unauthorized tokens to enter circulation through a mechanism introduced during Hard Fork 6 in August. The network was restarted at block 3,833,000, just before the flawed feature was activated, and wallets have been instructed not to take any immediate action.
The recovery process is ongoing, with Zano working closely with partners and counterparties to verify which transactions were affected by the rollback. Funding for reimbursement will come from a combination of the development fund, team members' personal funds, and contributions from supporters.
