Zano Network Resets Due to Critical Gateway Address Vulnerability
The Zano network has completed a major network reset following a critical security flaw in its Gateway Addresses feature. The vulnerability allowed for unlimited minting of both ZANO and Freedom Dollar (FUSD) tokens, undermining the blockchain's fixed token supply principle.
An investigation revealed that at least two Gateway Addresses were created within the first seven days of operation, each requiring a 100 ZANO registration fee that was permanently removed from circulation.
The network reset eliminated approximately 30 days of recorded transactions, with mining operations, staking participants, and trading platforms required to deploy updated software and synchronize with the recovered blockchain.
