The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75% to 4%. This move was largely expected and did not seem to have a significant impact on cryptocurrencies, except for one standout performer: Zcash.

Zcash (ZEC) surged 23% in the last 24 hours, despite the Fed's decision. Bitcoin (BTC), on the other hand, rose less than 1% to $76,258. Other major cryptocurrencies like Solana and BNB also saw gains, but nothing compared to Zcash's impressive increase.

The surge in ZEC coincided with statements from Matt Huang, co-founder of Paradigm, who described Zcash as 'Bitcoin's privacy complement'. Paradigm holds a significant amount of ZEC, and Huang advocated for continued funding for developers. He also suggested that changes to the network should be evaluated through various decision-making methods rather than just coin-holder votes.
