Zcash developers have reached an agreement to target November 5 for the NU7 mainnet upgrade, pending a final decision on October 20. This decision was made after unanimous agreement among the Zcash Foundation, Project Tachyon, Valar Group, ZODL, Shielded Labs, and engineering teams.

The upgrade will bring several key changes to the network, including reducing block times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, making blocks three times faster. The testnet activation is set for October 6, giving developers time to assess NU7 before the mainnet decision.

The agreement followed recent sentiment collection results and discussions among the development teams. Feedback from proposal proponents and timeline talks between Zakura and Zebra teams helped finalize the plan.
