Zcash Eyes Further Market Share Gain Amid Growing Privacy Narrative
Grayscale's Head of Research Zach Pandl recently assessed that Zcash (ZEC) has room to capture more market share, despite surging from $60 to $1,500 over the past year. Grayscale believes this growth is justified by Zcash's low starting valuation and potentially large addressable market.
According to Grayscale, Zcash now accounts for almost 1.5% of Bitcoin's (BTC) market capitalization, up from less than 0.1% a year ago. While substantial, this level is not historically extreme, as other cryptocurrencies like XRP and smaller ones such as Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Litecoin (LTC), and Dash have reached at least 3% of Bitcoin's valuation during the 2017-2018 cycle.
Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan sees Zcash as an emerging long-term crypto narrative, potentially challenging established leaders. He identifies privacy, specifically Zcash, as a major pillar of crypto adoption and believes it could become a major theme in the industry. Hougan's argument focuses on the broader investment case rather than a specific price target or near-term catalyst.
