Zcash Gains Momentum as Shielded Pool Adoption Surges and Regulatory Clarity Takes Hold
Delphi Digital's in-depth report on Zcash has revealed significant momentum for the cryptocurrency. The share of Zcash's circulating supply held in shielded pools jumped from around 11% to nearly 30% over the past year, with approximately 1 million additional ZEC migrating into shielded addresses since October 2025 alone.
This growth is attributed to increased adoption of privacy features, particularly shielded transactions powered by zk-SNARKs. Historically, users have been hesitant to use these optional privacy features due to the complexity and potential for increased attention.
The Tachyon upgrade, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, aims to improve transaction efficiency and scaling while incorporating post-quantum privacy features. This addresses the 'harvest now, decrypt later' threat, where adversaries can store encrypted data today and attempt to crack it once quantum hardware matures.
Regulatory clarity has also contributed to Zcash's growth, with the SEC concluding its investigation without taking any enforcement action. Institutional interest is rising, with Grayscale actively pursuing a spot ZEC ETF that would give traditional investors exposure to Zcash through a familiar wrapper.
