Zcash holders have spoken out in favor of faster blocks and the network's existing halving schedule, as revealed by the results of the recent NU7 vote. Nearly 2.4 million ZEC participated in the private governance poll, representing roughly 66% of eligible Ironwood balances at snapshot time.

About 99.9% of participating ZEC supported cutting block target spacing from 75 to 25 seconds, while roughly 98.9% favored preserving scheduled halvings instead of adopting smoothed issuance mechanics. The majority also backed February 2031 for beginning NSM reissuance of ZEC previously removed from circulation.

The poll's results indicate that coinholders prefer moving forward with the NU7 upgrade without waiting indefinitely for every proposed component to be finished by September 30. This means that features unfinished by the deadline will be dropped, allowing the upgrade to ship sooner.
