Zcash Price Surge Called Unsustainable by Bitcoin Maximalist Samson Mow
Samson Mow, head of JAN3 and a well-known Bitcoin maximalist, has expressed skepticism about the sustainability of Zcash's current price surge. According to Mow, the asset's market capitalization has been artificially inflated, and the market is due for a correction. He pointed out that Zcash's year-to-date performance, with a gain of over 1,000%, is unsustainable and will eventually return to the mean.
Mow and other Bitcoin proponents have long been critical of Zcash's governance, citing issues such as the 'dev tax', high fund fees, and centralization. They argue that Bitcoin's layer-2 solutions, such as the Lightning Network, provide the necessary level of privacy, making Zcash redundant.
However, Zcash supporters attribute the coin's current price increase to real infrastructure changes, including the recent activation of the NU7 upgrade on testnet, which is expected to make block generation three times faster. The coin's liquidity has also been supported by the launch of pools on THORChain and a significant inflow into Grayscale's spot ETF.
