Zcash Price Surges Amid SEC Probe Resolution and Mining Capacity Boost
Zcash has seen a significant price surge in recent months, more than doubling to around $1.1 billion in market value from its previous level of around $500 million.
This increase is largely due to three key factors: the resolution of a closed SEC probe, new mining capacity from Digital Currency Group's Fortitude, and a growing share of ZEC sitting inside shielded pools.
The regulatory overhang was lifted in January when the Zcash Foundation announced that the SEC had concluded its review without recommending enforcement action or changes. This removal of risk has contributed to the coin's increased value.
The new mining capacity from Fortitude is also a significant factor, with the company bringing a 12-megawatt facility online in Grand Island, Nebraska. This will help reduce the cost of mining ZEC and increase its attractiveness to investors.
