Zcash Soars by 2,000%, Trader Doubles Down on Store-of-Value Potential
Zcash (CRYPTO: ZEC) has surged by 2,000% in just one year as trader Taiki Maeda puts 'majority of net worth' into the cryptocurrency.
Maeda believes that Zcash could emerge as one of crypto's biggest outperformers this cycle due to its similarities to Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) and optional shielded transactions, giving it a potentially valuable niche in the market.
The trader sees potential for ZEC to eventually reach 5% to 15% of BTC's market valuation, compared with roughly 1% currently. Maeda expects TradFi inflows to support Bitcoin while crypto-native investors shift toward store-of-value assets or tokens that generate returns for holders.
Zcash belongs in the former category and its adoption drivers include lower issuance, improving user experience, and a strong holder base. Maeda's conviction comes despite suffering a significant loss in ZEC earlier this year after he initially accumulated it below $400 but sold after concerns surrounding a potential Orchard vulnerability sent the token down more than 60%.
