Zcash (ZEC) has reached a new all-time high above $1,480 after surging roughly 20% in 24 hours. The price increase follows a unanimous agreement among developers to implement the NU7 upgrade on November 5th.

The NU7 upgrade will reduce block spacing from 75 seconds to 25 seconds and disable version 4 transactions. It will also integrate the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM), which preserves Zcash's halving schedule and reintroduces previously removed supply in February 2031.

ZEC holders overwhelmingly voted in favor of the upgrade, with 99.9% backing the faster block proposal and 98.9% voting to preserve the halving schedule. Retail demand is also growing, with Futures Open Interest rising to 2.3 million ZEC, reflecting increasing participation.
