Zcash Surges to Record High Ahead of NU7 Upgrade
The Zcash (ZEC) price has surged to a new all-time high above $1,480 in anticipation of the upcoming NU7 upgrade launch. The development team is aiming for November 5 as the mainnet deployment date.
According to Sean Bowe, a core developer, the upgrade will significantly decrease Zcash's block interval from 75 seconds to just 25 seconds. This change was endorsed by an overwhelming 99.9% of ZEC token holders. The NU7 protocol enhancement also includes deprecating version 4 transaction formats and implementing the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM).
The NSM framework will maintain Zcash's existing halving cycle, with supply that was previously eliminated from circulation being gradually reintroduced beginning in February 2031.
