Zcash Users Warned: Move Legacy Funds Before November 5 Upgrade

Zcash users holding ZEC in the network's legacy Sprout shielded pool should move their funds before the planned NU7 upgrade, scheduled for November 5. If they don't, the funds will become unspendable after the upgrade.

The upgrade is aimed at stopping older transaction formats that allow users to spend Sprout funds, as per Zcash Improvement Proposal-2003. However, the proposal does not burn these funds and leaves open the possibility of restoring access later.

A user on the Zcash Community Forum, posting as 'vaspholdings', urged ZEC holders to check their old wallets for any remaining Sprout ZEC, transparent ZEC, or both before the upgrade. Only funds in the Sprout pool face this restriction.
