Zcash's Meteoric Rise Propels Privacy Coins to Forefront
Zcash has become the top performer in the crypto market, surging 164% in just one month. This rise is significant enough to have propelled privacy coins to the forefront of every crypto sector ranking.
At $1,505, Zcash now ranks ninth among all cryptocurrencies and accounts for about 62% of the privacy sector by market value. The coin has climbed steadily since its close at $417 on July 1, reaching $1,566 by September 19 before dipping to $1,505 today.
While Zcash's influence is undeniable, other privacy coins are also experiencing growth. Excluding Zcash, the privacy sector remains 56% above its level from October 6 and is up 85% over the past year. Each of the eight privacy coins with at least a year of trading history has gained value.
The rotation into privacy coins appears to be genuine, with the sector outperforming Bitcoin over the past year and since its peak. Zcash's launch of Grayscale's ETF and a block-time vote reducing transaction speeds have contributed to its recent success. However, it is essential to recognize that the sector's growth largely reflects Zcash's performance.
