ZetaChain Migrates to Solana Amid AI-Focused Pivot
On September 20, ZetaChain's community voted to shut down its own blockchain and migrate its native token, ZETA, onto Solana as a native SPL asset. The vote, which passed with 99.4% support, is the first major hurdle cleared in the transition plan.
The existing ZetaChain blockchain will continue operating, validators will keep validating, and ZETA staking remains active until the shutdown process is formally approved through a second governance proposal. This proposal will set the final snapshot, shutdown timeline, and exchange coordination details.
Once the transition is complete, ZETA will exist as a native token on Solana rather than its own chain. The ticker stays the same, the total supply stays the same, but small fractional balances may get rounded down due to the decimal precision shift from 18 to 9.
