ZetaChain Token Holders Vote to Shut Down Cosmos L1 and Migrate to Solana
ZetaChain token holders have voted to shut down their Cosmos-based Layer 1 and migrate ZETA tokens to Solana, with 99.4% support and a turnout of 58%. The proposal required a second vote before migration can begin, which will detail how staking and rewards work after the move.
The shutdown does not immediately trigger the migration, and validators will continue operating and staking rewards will continue during the transition. A second proposal will outline the withdrawal window for assets linked to other blockchains, the snapshot block height, the shutdown timetable, the token claim process, and the exchange conversion period.
ZetaChain cited security and coordination pressures as reasons for the migration, pointing to an August 25 patch that revealed vulnerabilities in their Cosmos SDK chain. They expect AI tooling to make it easier to find vulnerabilities, which could lead to more patches in the future.
