zk.money Brings Private Payments Back to Ethereum via Aztec
zk.money has returned to the scene after a three-year hiatus, offering private Ethereum payments via Aztec. The self-custodial wallet allows users to send and receive funds privately, hiding balances, payment amounts, and recipients once funds move inside Aztec.
The relaunch comes with strict limits in its Alpha release, capping each transaction below $2,500, with a $50,000 daily deposit allowance. Deposits cost $0.35 plus Ethereum fees, while withdrawals cost $0.20. Users also receive 100 sponsored transactions per day.
Ethereum deposits remain publicly traceable, but the recipient inside Aztec can remain private. The wallet relies on Aztec's privacy architecture, which uses zero-knowledge proofs to conceal transaction details while settling activity back to Ethereum.
The return of zk.money is an experiment to see whether Ethereum users want privacy that feels closer to a normal payments app. It revives a product first introduced in 2021 and closed in 2024 after serving more than 75,000 wallets and processing over $100 million.
