Australian Shares Hold Steady Ahead of Interest Rate Decision
Australia's share market remained stable ahead of the Reserve Bank's interest rate decision on Tuesday. Despite expectations of another hike, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index rose by two points to 8,681.7, a gain of 0.02 per cent.
The broader All Ordinaries gained 5.1 points or 0.06 per cent to 8,855.8, with financial markets predicting the Reserve Bank of Australia will hike the official cash rate for a fourth time in 2026 to 4.6 per cent at 2:30 pm AEST.
Michele Bullock's press conference following the RBA's decision is expected to provide insights into how aggressively the central bank views domestic price pressures.
