Bank Indonesia's Policy Shift Lifts AUD/IDR, But Consolidation Ahead

The Australian Dollar (AUD) vs Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) exchange rate has seen a surge, currently trading at Rp12,580, up 1.13% on the day. This is largely due to Bank Indonesia's decision to keep its policy rate steady at 5.75%, pausing further monetary tightening.

The central bank has also expanded FX hedging incentives to support the rupiah and encourage market participants to hedge currency exposure. Governor Destry Damayanti emphasized a shift toward non-rate tools and incentives over further yield hikes, signaling a change in policy mix that influences demand patterns in the foreign exchange market.

AUD/IDR is trading above its key moving averages, but momentum signals are mixed. Technical analysis suggests a rangebound bias for the next two to three trading days, with a 64% probability of a move lower and a consolidation within the Rp12,479, Rp12,682 range.
