Bank of England Expands in Leeds with New Office
The Bank of England is expanding its presence in Leeds by opening a new office at Capitol House in Bond Court, which will house its growing workforce. The bank's current office at Yorkshire House will eventually be replaced by the new site. By 2027, the bank plans to have a minimum of 500 staff members in Leeds.
According to Bank governor Andrew Bailey, the new office is an 'important milestone' in the bank's long-term commitment to the city. He highlighted the value of the talent and expertise found in Leeds and the wider region. The move will strengthen the bank's presence across the UK and help it better reflect the people and communities it serves.
Leeds Mayor Tracy Brabin welcomed the news, stating that it was a 'powerful endorsement' of the city's economic future. She emphasized that the expansion would not only benefit West Yorkshire but also contribute to regional growth nationwide.
